In 2022, Team Cascade brought stories to life on stage in Warri, Delta State, through a community theatre production titled “The Amazing Gift.”
The stage play was more than a performance, it was an investment in people.
Organized as part of the mission of The Cascade Sustainability Foundation to promote human-capital development, the production used performing arts as a practical tool for education, character formation, and talent discovery. Through storytelling, music, and drama, young people explored themes of purpose, responsibility, values, and self-discovery in ways that were engaging and relatable.
What made the production remarkable was not just what happened on stage, but what happened behind the scenes.
Young volunteers discovered and developed skills in acting, dancing, and singing. Others found their strengths in props making, costume design, set construction, stage management, and directing. The production became a learning laboratory, where creativity met discipline, teamwork, and leadership.
Every performer was a volunteer. The youngest actor on set was just seven years old, standing confidently under stage lights, rehearsing lines, and learning the power of expression. Older youths mentored younger ones, friendships were formed, and confidence grew with every rehearsal.
“The Amazing Gift” demonstrated that talent often needs only one thing to flourish: opportunity.
By creating a platform where young people could contribute, experiment, and grow, Team Cascade reaffirmed its belief that human-capital development is not abstract, it is cultivated through real experiences, shared responsibility, and spaces where potential is given room to shine.
